
Robert Redford, star of Hollywood classics including Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting and All the President’s Men, has died aged 89.
In a statement to the New York Times, his publicist said the actor died in his sleep at his home in Utah.
Redford made his directorial debut with Ordinary People in 1980 and won four Academy awards, including best picture and best director. Redford was also known for founding the Sundance film festival in Utah and promoting independent film. He was a dedicated environmentalist.
