Wave-like clouds long seen but never officially categorised in English-language meteorological circles now have their place in the International Cloud Atlas.

It’s not a new David Mitchell novel, but a reference book that dates back more than a hundred years and which, until the recent addition of asperitas (the wave-like cloud seen above) and 10 other “new” formations, hadn’t been revised since 1987.

The Guardian has published a gallery of some of the new cloud types – but we’re now looking to our readers’ views of the sky where they are.

Have you seen any of the “new” clouds? If so, we’d like to see your pictures, and hear a little about where you took them and when. Click on the blue contribute buttons to share your photography, and be sure to tell us about the image in your caption.
