Shardul Thakur to play in Mumbai's next Ranji Trophy game

MUMBAI: In a big boost for Mumbai, India's pace bowling allrounder Shardul Thakur will be available for them for their next Ranji Trophy match against Assam, which will be held from January 10-13 at Guwahati.

"Thakur conveyed his availability for the next match to Mumbai chief selector Salil Ankola today. He has been practicing at the Mumbai Cricket Association's BKC ground for the past two days," a source told TOI on Thursday.

Thakur was a part of the India team during the two-Test series in Bangladesh, but didn't get a game. A few good performances will keep him in the frame for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Feb-March.

With 13 points in three games, Mumbai, who are playing Tamil Nadu at the Brabourne Stadium currently, are placed second in Elite Group B. Only two teams will qualify for the knockouts from each group.
