Shaquem Griffin surprises boy with new pair of prosthetic running legs

While the Seattle Seahawks were hosting their rookie minicamp over the weekend, linebacker Shaquem Griffin was busy putting a smile on a young fan’s face.

On Saturday, Griffin surprised 10-year-old Izzy Turkington with a new pair of prosthetic running legs. Griffin appeared at an adaptive sports clinic at Nike headquarters to make his special presentation.

“It was really cool, and I didn’t think I would ever have these,” Izzy said via KING5 Sports. “It feels really good to have these new legs. They help me run faster.”

Nike, the Challenged Athletes Foundation and Ossur Prosthetic Solutions partnered to make the donation possible.

Griffin, the first one-handed athlete drafted into the NFL, understands the challenges Izzy will face.

“You wake up in the morning — you have every choice to make,” Griffin said. “You got every decision to make and say, ‘You know what? I’m going to attack this day. I will not let the day attack me.’

“So, get up, be positive, attack it, be great; because the only person that can stop you is you.”
