Shane Duffy in Celtic social media reversal as defender explains surprise 'middle finger'

Celtic defender Shane Duffy has moved to clarify a social media blooper that saw him accidentally show a 'middle finger' to his Instagram followers.

The Irish centre-back is active across a number of platforms like many footballers and in the wake of Saturday's 2-2 draw away to Hibernian posted a picture of himself in the green and white hoops.

Duffy came on as a second-half substitute in the Easter Road stalemate, replacing captain Scott Brown with his side trailing 2-0 at the time.

But his picture was adorned by the middle-finger emoji - before the caption was swiftly changed to a more common flexed bicep later on.

Celtic's summer arrival from Brighton was eager to clear up the understandable confusion with another post that bore a more positive message as proof.

It read: "Relax this was my Facebook half hour ago I pressed the wrong emoji (laughing face) it's all sorted now".

Duffy has struggled since his much-hyped move from the English Premier League and the boyhood Hoops fan will be hoping to get back on track after being removed from the starting 11 by Neil Lennon.
