'Shambolic and utterly predictable' - Newcastle United fans react to defeat to Leicester City

Newcastle United fans were left fearing the worst after seeing their side fall to a humbling 3-0 defeat at home to Leicester City.

The Foxes cruised to their victory at St James’ Park, with former Magpie Ayoze Perez opening the scoring in the first half before James Maddison effectively settled things with a superb strike to make it 2-0 before the break.

Newcastle were hampered with injuries during the game, and had to play the majority of the second half when Fabian Schar was forced off with a hamstring problem, with Steve Bruce having already made all three of his substitutions.

From there, all hope of an unlikely comeback seemed to dissipate, with Leicester controlling possession as they cruised their way to another three points.

And they added a third late on through Hamza Choudhury’s brilliant strike from distance, leaving Newcastle to ponder their third defeat in their last four games.

Supporters were left less than impressed by the Toon’s efforts in defeat, with many voicing their frustrations on Twitter.

Despite a bright run of form which saw Bruce’s side momentarily move into the top half, Newcastle now find themselves sliding back into the bottom half.

And many supporters fear that they may not yet be out of danger from a relegation battle – the Magpies are six points above the bottom three after their most recent defeat.

Things don’t get much easier for the Toon following this weekend’s FA Cup third round clash against League One side Rochdale.

Trips to Wolves and Everton either side of the visit of Chelsea await this month, and with sides below them picking up results, they’ll have to rediscover some form quickly.
