Feb. 05--A sex game in which couples can trade favors ranging from bondage to voyeurism is the newest creation of one of the inventors of Cards Against Humanity.
Daniel Dranove, a 2009 Northwestern University graduate, plans to release Weapons of Mass Seduction. Its free print-and-play and online demo versions will be available Feb. 11. A Kickstarter campaign also is planned to fund a print run. It was unveiled at New York Comic Con 2014.
Cards Against Humanity, which bills itself as "a party game for horrible people," was created by Dranove and seven friends from Highland Park High School. It, too, began online with a free download and used Kickstarter to raise money. It became a top seller on Amazon for $25.
"Cards Against Humanity gives you a reason to talk about the taboo," Dranove said in a statement. "Weapons of Mass Seduction gives you a reason to do it."
A spokesman said Dranove, 28, spends a lot of time in Hawaii but lives mostly in Chicago.
Weapons of Mass Seduction allows players to exchange a variety of favors, ranging from the G-rated, such as "opponent makes you pancakes" and "opponent writes you poem," to the more risque, such as "whip opponent with riding crop" and "ask another couple if you can watch them have sex."
Players accumulate a stack of favors they can cash in; they also are told to agree on a safe word to use if they want the game to stop.
Dranove created the game with his girlfriend, Kaitlin Johnson.
