Canberrans should prepare to shiver through the Easter weekend as damaging winds, showers and frost are predicted across the capital.
Good Friday started with a good soaking, with 12 millimetres of rain recorded at Canberra Airport in the 24 hours before 9am.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Stephen Stefanac said there would be further showers on Friday evening but there wouldn't be much rain going into the gauge.
"There's a chance of a storm, isolated, late this afternoon and evening in ACT," he said.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for damaging winds on Saturday for a large part of eastern New South Wales, including the ACT.
Mr Stefanac said a vigorous cold front would be producing the windy conditions.
Cloud cover means we will wake up to a mild minimum of 10 degrees on Saturday morning. A maximum of 17 degrees is predicted for the day.
"With the stronger winds it's going to feel a lot colder than that with the wind chill," Mr Stefanac said.
"[It] won't be too pleasant out there unless somebody's planning to take a kite out."
There is a medium chance of showers in the morning and afternoon on Saturday in Canberra. There is also a chance of snow on the Snowy Mountains. Winds are expected to ease from late Saturday evening.
#Easter in #Canberra will start out wet for Good Friday and windy on Saturday before mild sunny weather returns in time for Easter Sunday backyard Easter egg hunts.
