Six players Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could sign in January transfer window

Manchester United are back in the race for Champions League football next season - and a successful January could see them return to European football's top table.

A squad overhaul is not necessary, but an arrival or two are still needed after failing to replace Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku.

Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have been bright lights but have not been enough on their own to help United into the top four just yet.

United are known for being big spenders, with a record £80million deal for centre-back Harry Maguire in the last transfer window and £90million for Paul Pogba.

So, who could they be splashing their cash on this summer? Mirror Football look at some potential arrivals...

Jadon Sancho

United are one of a number of Premier League clubs that are keen to strengthen attacking options with 19-year-old England international Jadon Sancho.

Chelsea are among United’s rivals hoping to sign the Borussia Dortmund star in January, who has netted 11 goals and secured 12 assists this season.

Sancho is no stranger to Manchester, spending his youth career playing for Manchester City until 2017.

But United will have to spend big money if they want to secure his services, as he is valued at around £100million.

Manchester United and Tottenham are targeting Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare, according to reports.

The 20-year-old has made 22 appearances for the Ligue 1 side this season, including a start against Chelsea in the Champions League.

Lille are reportedly open to offers for Soumare, but would prefer the option of loaning him back until the end of the season.

Christian Eriksen

Christian Eriksen’s contract for Tottenham ends this season and the 27-year-old is searching for other options.

United have been interested and a £40million move for the Denmark international could be made in January if Eriksen shows an interest in a move to Manchester.

The midfielder is yet to start a Premier League game under Jose Mourinho and has not had the best start to the season with only two goals and two assists to his name.

Lautaro Martinez

Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez is a potential target for Manchester United, with 13 goals in 21 games so far this season.

The Serie A star is now worth five times what he was when he signed for in 2018 - although he has a release clause on £93.4million.

Alongside former Manchester United forward, Romelu Lakaku, the duo are the driving force for Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan.

Leandro Paredes

United are reportedly set to approach Paris Saint-Germain over the availability of midfielder Leandro Paredes.

The 25-year-old has only made ten appearances for PSG this season and is struggling to secure his place in PSG's team of superstar names.

However, United may face competition with Juventus for the Argentine international as they are reportedly prepared to offer Emre Can as part of a deal for Paredes.

Jean-Clair Todibo

The 19-year-old Barcelona centre-back has struggled to make an impression at the Nou Camp since his move from Toulouse in 2018, and has appeared just three times in all competitions for the Catalan club so far this season.

Todibo has been linked with a move to the likes of Milan, Bayern Leverkusen and Everton but United have reportedly recently joined the race for the £17m rated player, a prospective move which would surely interest the Frenchman.

He would add an extra option to United's often fragile defence, and could be a future star in the making, with Todibo often impressing for the French U20s.
