Seven people from Merseyside caught 'blatantly disregarding' lockdown rules

A group from Merseyside who travelled to North Wales to ride their off-road vehicles did so in "blatant disregard" of lockdown rules.

Officers from North Wales Police caught the group of seven after they had travelled over the border to Wrexham, reports the Daily Post.

The off-roaders were each served with fixed penalty notices for the breach at the weekend.

A spokesman for the force said all seven were given tickets after travelling to the Glyn Ceiriog and Llanarmon DC areas.

Inspector Gavin Gilmore said: “It’s totally unacceptable that anyone should be undertaking this kind of activity, let alone travelling all the way from Merseyside to rural Wales during lock down.

"There can be no excuses for such blatant disregard for the rules, which have been well publicised.

"Offenders will be dealt with firmly.”

It is the latest in a number of breaches of the rules this weekend publicised by police.

Officers also caught people travelling from England to go sledging and a group who travelled from London to capture drone footage.

Other breaches included a group of locals who had a party, a suspected drug driver who travelled from Wrexham to Llandudno and a group who drove from London to Snowdon.
