Seven more people with coronavirus have died in Greater Manchester

Seven more people have died after contracting coronavirus.

It brings the region's hospital death toll to 2,022, the latest mortality figures show.

The figures do not include deaths caused by COVID-19 in the wider community - including care homes.

Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust recorded three new deaths at its hospitals in North Manchester, while two more fatalities were reported at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Another life was lost to Covid at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and another Covid patient died at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester as of Wednesday, June 24, stands at:

  • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 221

  • Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9

  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 415

  • NHS Nightingale North West - 6

  • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 533

  • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 6

  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 176

  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 207

  • Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 186

  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 13

  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 250

Some of the larger trusts run several hospitals in Greater Manchester.

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust oversees the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI), Wythenshawe Hospital and Trafford General, while Pennine Acute is in charge of North Manchester General Hospital, Fairfield Hospital, the Royal Oldham Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary.

On Wednesday, a further 51 people who tested positive for coronavirus died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 28,435.

Patients were aged between 48 and 96 years old. All patients had known underlying health conditions, NHS England said.
