Service delays on Nottingham route after person hit by train, operator confirms

A person has been hit by a train on a Nottingham route, the operator has confirmed.

East Midlands Railway confirmed the incident had happened around 2.20pm near Ely on the Nottingham route between Liverpool and Norwich.

The operator tweeted: "EMR Update. A person has been hit by a train near Ely causing some disruption to trains on our Liverpool/Nottingham/Norwich route.

"We are currently making arrangements to keep you on the move."

The EMR website travel updates adds: "Trains running through the area in both directions cannot run between Ely and Peterborough.

"At present we are waiting for an estimate of when the line is expected to reopen. As soon as it is our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again."
