Serve up an ace with the honey deuce cocktail – it's the perfect late summer tipple to enjoy with the US Open

Pale green cocktail with skewered melon balls.

As the excitement has been ramping up for the US Open, everyone's been talking about the tournament's official drink – the Honey Deuce cocktail. Not only is it refreshing and fruity for late summer, but it's really fun to serve (pun intended) with its tennis ball-shaped melon skewers, making it the perfect addition to your repertoire of summer cocktail recipes.

Created in 2006 by former Grey Goose bartender Nick Mautone, the Honey Deuce is a simple blend of raspberry liqueur, lemonade, and Grey Goose vodka, and thanks to its signature melon ball garnish, the cocktail has taken social media by storm.

If you won't be watching the tournament in person this year, you can put all of your summer cocktail essentials to good use and re-create the famous Honey Deuce cocktail recipe at home, and save $23 while you're at it.

Honey Deuce cocktail ingredients

  • 1 ½ ounces vodka
  • 3 ounces lemonade
  • ½ ounce raspberry liqueur
  • 3 balls of frozen honeydew melon
  • Ice

The Honey Deuce cocktail method

  • Pre-chill a highball glass by placing it in the freezer or refrigerator.
  • Use a melon baller to remove three small scoops from your frozen honeydew melon (I use the OXO double-sided melon baller from Amazon).
  • Add the vodka, lemonade and raspberry liqueur to a cocktail shaker with ice.
  • Shake vigorously until combined, then pour through a strainer into the glass.
  • Garnish with your speared melon balls.

I know I'll be busy making plenty of Honey Deuces before the fall arrives – I've even treated myself to one of the best bar carts so I can entertain in style.
