Serious two-car crash closes large 10-mile stretch of Highland road

A serious crash has closed a large stretch of a Highland road.

Police Scotland has shut 10 miles of the A894 near Kylesku, on the north-west Sutherland coast, after two vehicles collided on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency crews are currently dealing with the incident and motorists are being advised to avoid the area.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Officers were called around 12.10pm to a report of a road crash involving two vehicles on the A894 north of Kylesku Bridge.

"Police and ambulance attended and the road is currently closed between Kylesku and Scourie."

Northern Police earlier tweeted that the road was closed due to a "serious road traffic crash".

It said: "Officers are in attendance and motorists are asked to avoid the area."
