A serial shoplifter has been banned from every Greggs in England and Wales after being taken down by police in north London.
Officers in Haringey secured an order to ban Patrick Verry from the stores after he targeted one seven times.
Video footage shared by the Met showed Verry, 33, with his hood up, placing bottle after bottle of soft drinks into a plastic bag before trying to leave a Greggs on Wood Green High Road on May 15.
He was quickly tackled to the floor by an officer and handcuffed.
The Met Police said Verry pleaded guilty to six counts of theft from the same store at Highbury Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
The force added that it had also secured a banning order against Winston Wright, a prolific shoplifter in south-east London.
Mr Wright, 44, from Lewisham, stole more than £2,500 worth of goods from stores in Greenwich over four months. He has since been banned from every Sainsbury’s, Boots and Co-op in England and Wales.
Wright, who was stopped in Deptford High Street after being recognised by an officer, has also been banned from entering Greenwich for three years, jailed for three months and fined £200.
He pleaded guilty to eight counts of shoplifting and one count of commercial burglary at Croydon Magistrates Court on May 6.
Chief Inspector Rav Pathania, the Met’s lead for tackling retail crime, said: “The Met is focused on tackling the most prolific shoplifters like Wright and Verry. They cause fear to retail workers and their offending has a negative impact on communities.
"We continue to work with local business owners to investigate reports of shoplifting, understand concerns and use different tactics to crackdown, including targeted operations and regular patrols."
