Brentford are set to be back in Premier League action next weekend when they make the short trip to Stamford Bridge to face Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea.
The Bees are far from safe at the moment, but are eight points above the relegation zone and will hopefully look to confirm their status as a Premier League club for next season in the next couple of weeks.
Thomas Frank and his team will be hoping that they can ensure their safety as soon as possible, as they can prepare for next season and evaluate where they can go from here. It will be a busy summer at Brentford, with Frank having his. So which players could the Bees realistically manage to persuade to come to TW8 next season as they aim to establish themselves as a Premier League outfit?

Alexander Bah
Position: RB
Club: Slavia Prague
Age: 24
One area that many Brentford fans have been rightfully annoyed by the lack of, is right-back. For majority of the season, Sergi Canos was Brentford's first-choice RWB, with many fans frustrated with his performances. Kristoffer Ajer is now operating at RB following Brentford's change to a back four - and the Norwegian has done well in that position since the change in formation.
That said, Ajer is a centre half and will hope to playing there next season in the hope Brentford sign a RB this summer. An option for that position would be Danish international Alexander Bah, who is enjoying a great season at Slavia Prague. Bah has three goals and 10 assists in 20 league games to his name this season and would be a huge upgrade at RB - allowing Ajer to move to his preferred position at CB.
Sergio Gómez
Position: LB
Club: Anderlecht
Age: 21
Brentford fans would have been delighted to have seen Rico Henry sign a new contract this week. However, the Bees don't have a back-up LB who could replace him in the event of COVID, injury or suspension. Thomas Frank has often had to put square pegs in round holes by deploying the likes of Mads Roerslev, Sergi Canos and even Saman Ghoddos at left-back.
Sergio Gomez would be the ideal fit, and would meet the profile of the Brentford model. He is 21-years-old and has impressed for Anderlecht this season, with five goals and 11 assists in 32 league games. The likes of Leeds United have been keeping an eye on Gomez, so it won't be an easy deal for Brentford to get over the line - but one they should perhaps to do.
Jorge de Frutos
Position: RW
Club: Levante
Age: 25
One area Brentford have also lacked where it has shown, are the wide attacking positions. It was understandable given they had played two strikers up front, but Frank perhaps did not envisage he would revert to a back four so late into the season. As a result, Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa have taken the reins on the right and left - and both positions are in need for strengthening.
A player that could give Mbeumo competition is Levante's Jorge de Frutos. The Spaniard operates on the right-hand side of a front three, and has been superb for Levante this season despite the La Liga being rock bottom of La Liga and set for relegation. De Frutos has contributed four goals and seven assists in 25 league games, which are relatively impressive given who he is playing for.
Mykhaylo Mudryk
Position: LW
Club: Shakhtar Donetsk
Age: 21
The Bees were heavily linked with Mykhaylo Mudryk in the January transfer window, but were unable to do a deal in time for the Ukrainian to come to Brentford Community Stadium. Mudryk operates on the left-hand side and would provide competition for Wissa, who has been a successful signing for the Bees.
Amidst the events in Ukraine, Mudryk is enjoying a good season at Shakhtar with the 21-year-old scoring two goals and providing seven assists in 11 league games - four of the seven assists provided came in Shakhtar's 6-1 win over PFK Lyiv! If Brentford choose to resurrect the deal this summer and pay a fee they believe is worth paying, it could be a shrewd investment going forward.
