- Lorry driver Zvonko Tomisa has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for causing the death of father-of-two Arran McManus on the M20 in Kent.
- Tomisa, 58, was on a video call with his wife and travelling at approximately 55mph when he crashed into Mr McManus's car in standstill traffic on 25 November last year.
- Maidstone Crown Court heard that Tomisa attempted to brake just one second before impact, with multiple calls and messages on his phone in the hour leading up to the collision.
- Mr McManus, 36, suffered "not survivable" injuries after his vehicle was crushed into another lorry, with Judge Catherine Moore stating Tomisa's "entirely senseless actions" caused the tragedy.
- Tomisa, who pleaded guilty to death by dangerous driving, was also banned from driving for 14 years and four months, with police highlighting the avoidable nature of the incident.
