Senior ABVP functionary sworn in as Haryana PSC member

CHANDIGARH: Senior functionary of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the ruling BJP in Haryana, Mamta Yadav was sworn in as member of the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC).

A former school lecturer in Sociology in the education department Haryana, Mamta had recently resigned from the teaching post after confirmation of her appointment on the coveted post. She had been associated with the ABVP since college days and in 2011, she was appointed as national vice president of the ABVP. She worked as vice president of the saffron party's student wing for two years. In 2018, she was appointed as court member of Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU) Rohtak.

Importantly, the post of member of HPSC is a constitutional post and the member of HPSC is appointed for a period of six years or till she/he attains the age of 62 years, whichever is earlier.

The HPSC, which is the apex recruitment body of the state, selects gazzatted officers for the state including the state civil and state police services.
