Selfish covidiots block emergency routes to Scots tourist estate while they walk dogs in the grounds

Bosses at a Scottish tourist spot have hit out at selfish covidiots who blocked emergency routes while they walked dogs in the grounds.

Workers at Drum Castle, in Aberdeenshire, took to social media to complain about the dim-witted parking over the weekend.

They claimed that people who drove to the Aberdeenshire site to walk dogs have blocked estate employees from gaining access.

They also prevented those who live in homes on the grounds to get in or out.

The bosses notified the police about the incidents and also took to social media over the weekend to complain about the inconsiderate actions.

They posted two photographs on the Fubar News Facebook page claiming to be of cars flouting local parking restrictions.

And they wrote: “This is the emergency access to Drum Castle at the moment.

“We have barriers up and no parking signs and are blocked into the estate by these inconsiderate people.

“We would appreciate it if people remembered while they want to access local walking spots that people live and work on these estates even when they are closed to the public.

“Police have been notified.”

Other locals slammed the covidiots.

One wrote: ”I live near Drum Castle & walk there every day. What I saw today was disgraceful. “Cars badly parked & in every Passing Place 4 in one of them.

“Presumably if you are driving a car you can read so when did a Passing Place become a Parking Place? Did l find it distressing l sure did.”

While another added: “I'd like to say I'm surprised, however…some people seem to have their own interpretation of parking signs, covid rules etc. Idiots.”

Chief Inspector Jackie Knight of North East Division said: "We are aware of number of vehicles parked near to Drum Castle over the course of the weekend. While I appreciate people want to exercise outside and make the most of the beautiful Aberdeenshire countryside, I ask that while doing so we show courtesy and respect for the area and it's residents. Please be mindful about access for large emergency service vehicles and park appropriately and safely at beauty spots to ensure a clear route is available at all times.

"I fully recognise the impact these enhanced restrictions will have on people’s lives. However, it is clear that significant sacrifices are vital to help suppress the spread of coronavirus.

“The Chief Constable has made it clear that our approach throughout the pandemic has now changed. Police Scotland officers will continue to support people to follow the regulations and encourage them to take personal responsibility.

“People should not leave their homes unless for essential purposes. The best way to stay safe is to stay at home.

"We will have increased patrols in the area to explain the regulations and to encourage people to do the right thing."
