Fire experts believe the blaze reached temperatures of up to 1,000 degrees.

And while nine other residents escaped- Patryk, who was from Poland, perished.

But after he confessed to starting the blaze prosecutors accepted his guilty pleas to to manslaughter and arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered.

Patryk Mortimer (Northumbria Police)

Today after Lancaster was sentenced Northumbria Police has released footage of the moment he was arrested, in a kitchen.

Caught on police body-worn cameras Lancaster can be seen swearing at officers as he argues that he should not be a suspect.

When told he is being arrested on suspicion of murder he says: "Murder? You're mad. What do you mean like? There aint no murder happened."

And when the officer explains it is in connection with Patryk's death, Lancaster describes the victim as "me best pal".

There is then a scuffled as officers attempt to handcuff Lancaster who moves his hands away from the cuffs while repeatedly saying, "na, na".

Det Sgt Steve Brown, who lead the investigation for Northumbria Police said: "It is only Declan that will know the true motive.

"It is very frustrating to not know why he's done this. It was just a totally senseless act with such devastating consequences.

"He's just a dangerous person."
