Newcastle's General Hospital closed its doors almost 10 years ago but the building remains frozen in time.
With abandoned equipment, eerie corridors and children's furniture still stood inside, the scenes would not be out of place in a horror movie.
The General Hospital closed in 2010, with most of its services having moved to the Royal Victoria Infirmary and the Freeman Hospital in a shake-up of the city’s healthcare provision.
The hospital was originally built as the infirmary for the Newcastle Union Workhouse before being separated in 1921 and renamed Wingrove Hospital.
The name changed to Newcastle General Hospital in 1930 and in 1948 it became part of the newly-founded National Health Service.
The run-down buildings have now fallen into a state of disrepair and the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust served notice of its intention to demolish seven buildings on the site last year.
Newcastle University has now bought the site with a view to turning into a world-leading centre for scientific research.
