Second person charged following shooting of teenager in Enfield as boy, 17, held on suspicion of murder

A second person has been charged following the fatal shooting of a teenager in north London, the Metropolitan Police have said.

Eliezer Mbaki, 24, was arrested on Monday following the death of Keanu Harker, 18, in Enfield last week.

Mbaki, of Oulton Road in Tottenham, was remanded to appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday accused of perverting the course of justice.

It comes after a boy of 17 — who cannot be named for legal reasons — was charged on Sunday with the murder of Harker.

Officers were called at 8.45pm on Thursday to reports of gunshots fired on Great Cambridge Road, less than half a mile from Harker’s home.

They attended the scene along with the London Ambulance Service, who treated Harker before transporting him to a nearby hospital.

Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, Harker later died from his injuries.

His family have been informed and are currently being supported by specialist officers.

Several lines of enquiry are active, the Met added.

Detective Chief Superintendent Caroline Haines, who leads policing in Enfield, said: “Our thoughts remain with Keanu’s family and friends, and anyone else affected by his death. This is a shocking incident to happen in any community.

“We are working at pace to ensure that those responsible for Keanu’s death are held to account.

“I would urge anyone who could assist us with our investigation to contact police immediately and to refrain from speculating about this incident online.

“If you’d prefer to stay anonymous, you can also provide information to us through the charity Crimestoppers.

“We’d like to once again reassure the community that this appears to be an isolated incident and a thorough investigation is underway.

“Please do approach any of our officers who are in the local area, they will be happy to provide support to you.”
