Today police carried out a search of the loopline close to Muirhead Avenue and found a second gun and ammunition.
The handgun is being forensically examined and enquiries will be carried out to establish if they are linked to yesterday’s recoveries.
Eyewitnesses reported the road was closed to cyclists and walkers while police investigated and they "could see police screens in place".
A 25 year-old man arrested yesterday has been released under investigation. A 20 year-old man remains in custody.
