Sebastian Fundora To Replace Keith Thurman In PBC's Amazon Debut

Keith Thurman

Sebastian Fundora has been announced as the replacement for Keith Thurman in the upcoming PBC event on March 30, where he will face Tim Tszyu in Las Vegas. The event, which marks PBC's debut on Amazon Prime Video, was initially set to feature Tszyu defending his WBO junior middleweight title against Thurman. However, Thurman had to withdraw due to a biceps injury sustained during training.

Fundora, a late-replacement opponent, will now challenge Tszyu for the vacant WBC title. While Thurman, a former world champion, boasts an impressive record, his inactivity and age may have led to the decision to replace him with the younger and hungry Fundora.

Fundora, standing at 6-foot-6, presents a unique challenge in the weight region with his height and reach advantage. Despite a recent KO loss to Brian Mendoza, Fundora's record and punching accuracy make him a formidable opponent. He was initially set to face Serhii Bohachuk at the event, who will now fight a replacement opponent.

With Tszyu holding a perfect record of 24-0 with 17 KOs, he is expected to be the favorite going into the fight. However, Fundora's ability to utilize his reach and height advantage could pose a significant challenge to Tszyu's dominance in the ring.

The matchup between Fundora and Tszyu promises to be an intriguing battle of contrasting styles, with Fundora looking to learn from past mistakes and capitalize on his physical attributes, while Tszyu aims to maintain his undefeated streak and solidify his status as a top contender in the division.
