Seattle Seahawks player of the game: Receiver DK Metcalf

The Seattle Seahawks jumped out to a 24-0 halftime lead against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, before falling apart in the second half and barely earning a 27-20 win.

While it wasn’t the prettiest game, the Seahawks are 6-2 on the season and 4-0 on the road for the first time since 1980.

Seattle did plenty of damage through the air and on the ground, but the player of the game has to be rookie receiver DK Metcalf, who had his first career two touchdown game.

Metcalf finished with three receptions (on five targets) for just 13 yards, but his two touchdowns were crucial in getting the Seahawks a big enough lead for them to eventually earn the victory.

With tight end Will Dissly on the shelf for the rest of the season, Metcalf has emerged as Russell Wilson’s primary red zone target, a fact that was never more evident than it was today.

Metcalf is still finding himself in the NFL, but games like today prove how much value he can have even in a somewhat limited role in Seattle’s run-heavy offensive approach.
