Search launched for teenager who went missing after car crash

POLICE are searching for a missing teenager who vanished after his car crashed.

Officers responded to reports of a crashed car on fire on the B941 between Kilconquhar and Largoward in Fife at about 1.10am on Thursday.

The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, which raised concern as there were no occupants in the car or within the area.

Police say inquiries have led them to believe the driver, 17-year-old Matthew Milne, left the scene after the crash and officers are keen to make sure he is safe.

He is 5ft 8in, of slim build, with light brown hair.

He was last seen wearing a black football top, black jogging trousers, and black and white Adidas trainers.

Sergeant Chris Hail of Police Scotland said: “Concerns are growing for Matthew’s welfare and it is vital that we find him to make sure he is safe and well.

“Extensive searches are ongoing and we are asking anyone who has seen Matthew or knows where he might be to get in touch.

“If Matthew hears about this appeal then I urge him to contact us or his family.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0197 of July 24.
