Search for 'high-risk' woman, 35, last seen leaving hospital 'without shoes'

Police are appealing for help to find a woman who was last seen leaving a Leeds hospital without shoes and has been called a high-risk missing person.

Hayley James was last seen leaving St James's Hospital in Leeds and has links to Lincoln Green and Morley, said West Yorkshire Police.

The 35-year-old has been referred to as a high-risk missing person by officers and is described as being 5ft 2in tall with a thin build and shoulder-length black curly hair, reported LeedsLive.

She is believed to be dressed in a grey hoodie and black leggings, but she may not be wearing any shoes.

Hayley has links to Lincoln Green and Morley and anybody with any information on her whereabouts are being told to ring 101, quoting log 1893 21st.

West Yorkshire Police tweeted: "High Risk Missing Person Appeal - Hayley James, 35 years.

"Last sighted leaving St James hospital, Leeds. 5ft 2, thin build, shoulder length black curly hair. Grey hoodie, black leggings & no shoes.

"Links to Lincoln Green and Morley. Any information ring 101 quoting log 1893 21st."

According to the Missing People charity, somebody is reported missing every 90 seconds in the UK, equating to a total of 170,000 people.

Of that number, almost 98,000 are adults and more than 70,000 are children.

The charity also states that 75% of adults are found within the first 24 hours of being reported missing and 85% are found within two days, while 5% are not found in the first week.

For children, the respective figures are 80% are quickly found within a day, while 90% are found after 48 hour and and 2% are still missing after seven days.

West Yorkshire Police has a page of its website dedicated to missing people.

The good news was that a 16-year-old teen was found on Monday in Halifax having gone missing and shows the importance of the appeals.

Police stated : "Khia Ramsden, 16, who was reported missing from Halifax was found safe and well. Many thanks to everyone who shared our appeal."
