Sean Shelby’s Shoes: What’s next for Colby Covington after UFC on ESPN 5 win?

(ALSO SEE: Sean Shelby’s Shoes: What’s next for Robbie Lawler after UFC on ESPN 5?)

After every event, fans wonder whom the winners will be matched up with next.

And with another night of UFC action in the rearview mirror, it’s time to look forward, put on a pair of Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard’s shoes, and play UFC matchmaker for UFC on ESPN 5’s most noteworthy winner.

In this instance that’s Colby Covington (15-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC), who defeated Robbie Lawler (28-14 MMA, 13-8 UFC) by unanimous decision in Saturday’s welterweight headliner, which took place at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., and aired on ESPN.

Covington has earned six consecutive wins at 170 pounds, including back-to-back triumphs against former champions in Lawler and Rafael dos Anjos. Now it appears “Chaos” has set up a title fight for himself against reigning divisional kingpin Kamaru Usman (15-1 MMA, 10-0 UFC).

Watch the video above for thoughts on Covington’s win over Lawler as well as the details of when and where his fight with Usman could materialize.
