Sean Payton thinks Zion Williamson looks great in a Saints jersey

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton has jokes. The man at the wheel of the team took a brief moment to acknowledge big news from his neighbors next door — the New Orleans Pelicans having won the 2019 NBA Draft Lottery, and with it, top prospect Zion Williamson.

Payton took to his official Twitter account to share an edited photo of the towering Williamson wearing a No. 1 Saints jersey, patrolling the sideline in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. It’s great to see that coach has a sense of humor.

Williamson, 6-foot-7, 284 pounds, is built more like defensive end than a basketball player. He dwarfs even Jimmy Graham (6-foot-7, 265 pounds), the biggest skills position talent to catch a pass from Drew Brees in New Orleans. It’s tantalizing to think of what Payton could do with Williamson in his offense; the former Duke Blue Devils superstar could surely catch a touchdown or ten.

If Williamson does end up being the top pick, as is widely believed, Payton and other members of the Saints will probably be first in line to get tickets so they can see him do great things in the Smoothie King Center. Still, picturing him lining up at tight end is a fun thought.
