Seahawks sign Brett Rypien ahead of rematch with Rams

The Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks will meet for the second time this season next Sunday, the Rams’ first game after their Week 10 bye. It seems the Seahawks are trying to gather some intel on their rivals before that rematch.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Seahawks have signed Brett Rypien to their practice squad, just over a week before they face the Rams. Rypien was with the Rams all offseason and through the first nine weeks of the season before being cut on Tuesday.

Rypien started for Los Angeles in Week 9, a game the Rams lost, 20-3, to the Green Bay Packers. He obviously isn’t going to play for Seattle anytime soon with Geno Smith healthy, but he could give the Seahawks coaching staff some intel on the Rams offense, having spent the last several months with them.

In the Rams’ loss to Green Bay last week, Rypien completed 13 of 28 passes for 130 yards with one interception and a forced fumble. The Rams cut him after signing Carson Wentz, replacing him as their backup quarterback.
