Shaquill, Shaquem Griffin were forced to cut hair by coach at Central Florida

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Shaquill Griffin and linebacker Shaquem Griffin are making the media rounds to promote their new book, “Inseparable: How Family and Sacrifice Forged a Path to the NFL,” which was released this month.

The twin brothers appeared on Sports Illustrated’s “SI Now” on Wednesday and revealed some rather personal information relating to an uncomfortable situation the two experienced together.

According to the Griffins, former Central Florida head coach George O’Leary forced them to cut their hair while they were in college.

While Shaquem wasn’t playing at the time, he joined Shaquill in shedding his dreadlocks.

“It was really degrading,” Shaquem said. “He pushed us in certain ways that could be unexplainable. It’s hard to explain what the reason was behind it. It was very degrading but it made us stronger. … He can’t break both of us when we together.”

O’Leary, who had previously been accused of racists remarks by a former coach, resigned the following week.
