Seahawks bring DE Frank Clark back to Seattle

It’s the year of reunion for the Seattle Seahawks. During the offseason, they brought back linebacker Bobby Wagner and defensive lineman Jarran Reed. Now, another former Seahawk has found his way back home: defensive end Frank Clark.

After spending four seasons in Kansas City — where he played in three Super Bowls and won two rings — Clark was released by the Chiefs and signed with their AFC West division rivals, the Denver Broncos. However, Clark’s time in the Mile High City lasted all of five games, and he was released. Now, he’s coming back to where his career started.

The Emerald City is where Clark spent the first four years of his career after being selected in the second round of the 2015 NFL draft by the Seahawks. During his final year in Seattle, Clark recorded a career-best 13 sacks.

His first stint with the Seahawks came to a conclusion when the team traded him to the Chiefs for a first-round pick prior to the 2019 season; the deal came after Seattle had franchise-tagged him. Clark never had regular-season sack totals in Kansas City like he did in Seattle, as the best he had was eight in his first season. But where Clark made his hay was in the postseason. His 13.5 playoff sacks are No. 3 all time in NFL history.

Clark comes home to help a Seahawks pass rush that lost LB Uchenna Nwosu for the year. Seattle’s defensive front has gotten after opposing quarterbacks as of late, so Clark will have to be fighting for sacks.

One big question will be answered before Clark takes the field: Since his old No. 55 jersey is being worn by Dre’Mont Jones, what will Clark’s new number be?
