Seahawks QB Russell Wilson has already undergone surgery on his injured finger

The Seattle Seahawks have seen their world turned upside down over the last 24 hours. The worst part of their loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night was the injury suffered by their franchise quarterback. Russell Wilson hurt the middle finger on his throwing hand when he hit Aaron Donald’s elbow. Wilson eventually left the game and Geno Smith replaced him at QB.

Now, Wilson is set to miss a game for the first time since Seattle picked him in the third round of the 2012 draft. According to a report by Ian Rapoport at NFL Network, Wilson has already undergone surgery, having his finger stabilized by screws.

Rapoport also says the procedure was more complicated than expected and the expectation is Wilson will miss roughly the next six weeks.

And so Wilson’s streak of 149 straight starts for Seattle will come to an end next Sunday night against the Steelers.
