Scouting report on reported Nottingham Forest transfer target Sergio Oliveira

The latest name to be linked with a move to Nottingham Forest is Porto midfielder

Reports in Portugal claim that Oliveira will be allowed to leave Estadio Dragao this month on a loan deal, with Forest thought to be the likely destination.

The 27-year-old started the season as a regular starter for Porto under manager Sérgio Conceição, but has been restricted to just four league appearances despite recovering his injury in the early weeks of the season.

So what more do we know about the latest player linked with a move to the City Ground?

Name:  Sergio Oliveira

Age:  27

Nationality: Portuguese

Position : Centre midfield

Clubs: Oliveira started his career at Porto, progressing through the club’s youth team. He went on to have loan spells at Beira-Mar, Belgian club Mechelen, Penafiel and Pacos Ferreira before eventually signing for the latter permanently in 2014.

A year later, Oliveira was re-signed by Porto, but has since has loan stints at French club Nantes and Greek side POAK Salonika.

By the numbers: Oliveira has scored 10 goals and provided 10 assists in 79 appearances for Porto since joining the club in 2015.

He also has one goal to his name in the Champions League, which came last season in a 3-2 win over Galatasaray in the group stage.

International caps: Oliveira has been capped three times by the Portugal national team, making his debut in September 2018 in a friendly against Croatia.

Strengths: Oliveira’s strengths appear to be the passing side of his game, which is a good trait to have for a central midfielder.

Capable of playing either in the middle of the park, or in a more defensive role, the Portuguese international also isn’t shy to make a tackle to win the ball back for his team.

The 27-year-old is also an option for set-pieces, and is a good player to have when the going gets tough.
