Scottish women councillors call to stop repeat of Bonnie Blue 'bang bus' visit

WOMEN councillors have called for action to prevent a repeat of adult star Bonnie Blue staging “sexualised publicity stunts” in Glasgow.

Last week, it was reported that the 26 year-old, whose real name is Tia Emma Billinger, was bringing her "bang bus" tour to the city for university Freshers Weeks and she also attended a Rangers match at Ibrox.

The porn star has embarked on a "Freshers meet and greet tour" and was in Glasgow on Saturday after she cancelled a planned visit to Dundee .

Now, following the visit, Labour’s women councillors have asked if there are sufficient powers to prevent such stunts taking place in Glasgow.

The group stated: “In recent days, concerns have been brought to our attention by Glasgow residents regarding sexualised publicity stunts linked to pornography taking place within the city, including in the vicinity of football matches and during Freshers’ Week at universities.

“While there is no suggestion of sexual activity taking place, the use of sexualised marketing in public spaces is a concern. Families and young people should not be confronted with material of this kind when attending sporting events or starting university life.

“These moments should be positive and safe, not overshadowed by marketing that demeans women or normalises exploitation.”

The group of councillors have written to the police and the council chief executive calling for action to prevent a repeat.

The statement added: “As Labour women councillors, we have agreed to raise this matter collectively. Our concern is not with individuals, but with the standards that should apply across the city.

“Families, students and communities have the right to expect that Glasgow is a city where public spaces are safe, respectful, and uphold the dignity of women and young people. We intend to ensure those expectations are met.”
