Aberdeen equalled a 31-year-old club record with a fifth successive Scottish Premiership win as they saw off a below-par Partick Thistle at Firhill.
A 2-0 victory came courtesy of goals from Adam Rooney and Kenny McLean. The opening strike from Rooney in the 49th minute had the home fans in a tether with the forward appearing to control a pass from McLean with his arm before shooting home. McLean scored the second goal nine minutes later. The Partick goalkeeper Tomas Cerny parried away a David Goodwillie effort and McLean was first to the ball to punish Thistle.
Inverness were denied their first win of the season as Dundee’s Kane Hemmings hit an injury-time equaliser at Dens Park. David Raven’s left-footed shot after 60 minutes looked like rewarding John Hughes’s team with their long-awaited win at the sixth attempt. Visiting keeper Owain Fon-Williams saved Greg Stewart’s 83rd-minute penalty, but Hemmings struck in the dying seconds to prevent a third straight defeat for Paul Hartley’s men. Inverness then had Andréa Mbuyi-Mutombo sent off near the end of the match for violent conduct.
A Liam Boyce penalty gave Ross County the advantage early on as they secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Dundee United.
County doubled their lead in the 28th minute when Jonathan Franks had an effort cleared off the line by Ryan McGowan and from the resulting corner Franks crossed the ball over for the unmarked Andrew Davies, who shot first-time from 12 yards.
A long-ranger from Sean Dillon hauled United right back into the match at Victoria Park and Blair Spittal also hit the crossbar in the second half.
Louis Moult’s penalty was enough to end a four-match losing run in the league for Motherwell and leave Kilmarnock at the bottom of the table.
Moult picked himself up to convert the penalty in the 13th minute and seal a 1-0 victory after a coming-to with Mark O’Hara led to what appeared to be a soft penalty award from referee Steven McLean.
Moult had a goal disallowed and Dom Thomas impressed for the home side but there was a general shortage of goalmouth action at Fir Park.
Ten-man Hearts were on the wrong end of a five-goal thriller at Hamilton as their perfect start to the league campaign came to a painful end.
Gramoz Kurtaj gave Accies the advantage close to half-time but Hearts recovered and went ahead through Billy King and Callum Paterson. But Paterson’s 76th-minute dismissal proved the turning point as Ali Crawford and Jesús García Tena struck for an unlikely 3-2 Accies victory against the promoted side.
