THE Scottish Labour Party has suspended MSP Foysol Choudhury amid an investigation into alleged inappropriate conduct.
Choudhury, who has represented Lothian as an MSP for Labour since 2021, has been administratively suspended pending the outcome of an investigation, The National understands.
His suspension reportedly comes amid an internal complaint over alleged inappropriate conduct.
Choudhury is now listed as an independent MSP on the Scottish Parliament website.
A Scottish Labour Party spokesperson said: “The Labour Party takes all complaints seriously.
“They are fully investigated in line with our rules and procedures, and any appropriate action is taken.”
Choudhury was voted into the Scottish parliament from the regional list in the 2021 elections.
He was the first Scottish Bangladeshi elected to Holyrood.
SNP MP Kirsty Blackman has urged Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar to “urgently come clean” on the reasons why another of his party's MSPs has been suspended.
Last month, Scottish Labour also suspended Colin Smyth after he was charged over allegations that a secret camera was placed in toilets inside the Scottish Parliament and for possessing indecent images of children.
