The Scottish Government has confirmed ONE new coronavirus death and seven new Omicron cases have been reported in Tayside in the last 24 hours.
Data from Public Health Scotland also shows 137 new cases were recorded overnight in the region.
The area's death toll - composed of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days - rises to 768.
In total, Tayside has recorded 56,566 cases of Covid-19 since the pandemic began.
There were seven new Omicrons cases reported overnight, taking the regional total of the variant to 51.
The latest local vaccination data shows that 332,250 of the over-12 population have received at least one coronavirus vaccination, and 304,775 have received at least two.
While 218,896 have also received a third vaccination amid a national effort to "booster" as many people as possible before New Year.
Across the country, 2,434 new positive cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the last day - a total of 814,359 since the pandemic began.
There were 11 further Covid-confirmed deaths recorded, meaning the country's overall death toll from the virus rises to 9,801.

The latest figures come as new coronavirus rules are set to come into place across Scotland after Christmas in a bid to halt the rapid spread of the Omicron variant.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon told MSPs in the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday that measures would be implemented on Boxing Day for indoor and outdoor venues, while pubs and restaurants will have to adhere to new guidance from December 27.
The announcement was another hammer blow for a number of industries, however Sturgeon said support would be given to help firms get through the tough festive period.
