The Scottish Government has confirmed 24 people have died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours,
It brings the death toll – of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – to 10,485.
The latest figures for Scotland showed 7,275 new cases had also been identified overnight.
There are currently 904 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus with 19 being treated in intensive care.
So far, 4,424,596 people have received their first vaccination with 4,139,618 having a second jab and 3,332,960 receiving a third dose or booster.
The figures come after a public health expert warned it would “probably be very unwise” for Scotland to follow England in lifting the self-isolation requirement if they test positive for covid.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Wednesday announced his intention to scrap the legal duty this month, as long as “encouraging trends” in the data continue.
Professor Andrew Watterson said the move south of the border is a “leap in the dark” and creating confusion.
Current self-isolation regulations in England expire on March 24 but Johnson said expects to end the last domestic restrictions – including the requirement to self-isolate if you test positive – a full month early.
At the beginning of Prime Minister’s Questions yesterday, the Tory leader brought cheers from his backbenchers with plans to end self-isolation for people who test positive for coronavirus “a full month earlier” than planned.
