Scottish Cup draw: Ayrshire sides learn fate as road to Hampden begins

The long road to Hampden has begun for seven Ayrshire sides following today's Scottish Cup preliminary round draw.

West of Scotland League sides Auchinleck Talbot, Bonnyton Thistle, Cumnock Juniors, Darvel, Irvine Meadow, Girvan and Kilwinning Rangers were among the 50 teams involved in the earliest stage of the competition.

Bonnyton were the second team out the hat, drawing a tough away tie against West of Scotland League Premier cracks Clydebank.

Reigning West champions Darvel are on their travels, too, after being drawn away to East Lothian side Haddington Athletic.

Scottish Cup veterans Auchinleck were handed a home clash against Coldstream who ply their trade in the East of Scotland League First Division.

Cumnock will make the journey to Glasgow to take on last season's Scottish Amateur Cup winners Tower Hearts while Irvine Meadow will entertain East of Scotland Premier Division outfit Hill of Beath Hawthorn.

Girvan are city-bound too after landing a tough tie away to Pollok.

Kilwinning Rangers won't have far to travel when they take on familiar opposition in the shape of West of Scotland League side Rutherglen Glencairn.
