Scottish Cup draw: Ayrshire sides learn fate as road to Hampden begins

The long road to Hampden has begun for five Ayrshire sides following today's Scottish Cup preliminary round draw.

West of Scotland League sides Auchinleck Talbot, Darvel, Cumnock Juniors, Irvine Meadow and Girvan were among the 37 teams in the hat at the earliest stage of the competition.

And Talbot, Darvel and Cumnock progressed to the first round without kicking a ball after being among the 15 clubs to receive a bye.

Irvine Meadow were drawn at home to East of Scotland Premier League oufit Musselburgh Athletic while Girvan will make the trip to the capital to take on Tynecastle who also ply their trade in the East Premier.

The remaining preliminary round ties are: Linlithgow Rose v Banks O'Dee; Burntisland ShIpland v Dalkeith Thistle; Newton Stewart v Coldstream; Irvine Meadow v Musselburgh Athletic; Dundonald Bluebell v Penicuik Athletic; Preston Athletic v Threave Rovers; Hawick Royal Albert United v Golspie Sutherland; Blackburn Utd v Easthouses Lily; Tynecastle v Girvan; Jeanfield Swifts v Whitehill Welfare; Dunbar Utd v Broxburn Atheltic.

Byes: Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale; Dunipace; Auchinleck Talbot; Darvel; Newtongrange Star; Clydebank; Camelon; Glasgow University; Sauchie Juniors; St Cuthbert Wanderers; Tranent Juniors; Cumnock; Wigtown and Bladnoch; Haddington Athletic; Hill of Beath Hawthorn.
