Scottish covid figures: 1225 new coronavirus cases with 51 further deaths

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has confirmed that a further 1,225 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.

Speaking at today's FMQS, the First Minister stated that this figure is representative of 4.7% of the total number of tests carried out.

Alongside the new cases, a total of 1125 patients are in hospital with a confirmed case of the deadly virus (down 31 from yesterday), with 90 being treated in intensive care (up six from the previous day).

A further 51 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died.

Nicola Sturgeon said that further information of the country's R number will be published later today but says that she expects the R number to be unchanged at slightly below one.

The First Minister says that the unchanged R number shows that current restrictions appear to be having an affect, curbing the spread of the virus, but emphasises that "we can't be complacent".

She reiterated that - with the exception of East Lothian moving from Level three to two - there was no change in the current levels of Covid restrictions in Scotland.
