Scott Wright reveals the Rangers plan Ross Wilson was 'desperate' for as he shares season target

There was a noticeable difference in Scott Wright from the day he joined Rangers until the end of the season when he played against his old club and then got a league winner's medal.

The former Aberdeen youngster wasn't necessarily the signing many fans expected in January but he quickly impressed with his direct style of play and willingness to hit the byline.

He bulked up from his early days at the club and looked a much different player with his physicality later in the campaign, and he revealed that's why Ross Wilson wanted him in early.

He had signed a pre-contract and Steven Gerrard and Wilson worked hard to get a deal done before the end of the January window so he could join up with the squad.

Most of his appearances came from the subs bench but he impressed throughout that time and was able to experience winning the league, and he revealed details of a chat Wilson had with him in the changing room after the game.

The sporting director admitted that it was part of the reason they pushed hard to get him in January, so he could develop that winning feeling with the rest of the squad.

When asked about how important it was to develop physically and get game time at Rangers in the final few months of the season, he told RangersTV: "Those two points were the most important for me personally. The day we won the league Ross Wilson said to me in the changing room that this was why he was so desperate to try and get me in just now which I’m so grateful for because I got to experience all that last season.

"Now it’s a case of me coming in pre-season and hopefully hitting the ground running and attack it.

"I’m wanting to improve every day. I want to break into the team and make that spot my own, bring what I can to the team and help it in any way I can."
