Scott Parker's first words after being confirmed as Fulham head coach ahead of Newcastle clash

Scott Parker has expressed his delight after being confirmed as Fulham head coach on a permanent basis.

He signs a two-year deal at Craven Cottage.

The former Chelsea and West Ham midfielder took over the role on an interim basis in February after the dismissal of Claudio Ranieri.

Since then, Parker has worked wonders behind the scenes to restore the spirit of the squad ahead of a season where they'll be expected to challenge for promotion.

Speaking to the club website, Parker said: "I’m delighted to be appointed Head Coach of Fulham Football Club.

"I thank the Chairman for entrusting me with this responsibility, as well as the support and encouragement that both he and Tony Khan have provided me.

“The players, staff and fans have all been fantastic with me since I took temporary charge.

"We are now all focused on ending this campaign with a positive result on Sunday against Newcastle and look forward to preparations for the new season, which have already begun.”
