Scott Frost named Home Depot Coach of the Year

Scott Frost has been named the 2017 Home Depot Coach of the Year for his part in leading UCF football to a 12-0 record just two years after finishing 0-12 under the previous administration.

The No. 12 ranked Knights finished as the only undefeated team among Football Bowl Subdivision competition this season _ besting previously undefeated records by Alabama, Wisconsin and Miami.

In two seasons leading the Knights, Frost amassed an 18-7 record.

UCF was Frost's first stop as a head coach. He formally accepted the role to lead Nebraska last Monday. News of his departure broke during UCF's 62-55 double overtime victory against Memphis in the conference championship game.

Frost and his staff plan to return to Orlando soon to coach players one last time in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl, slated for January 1, 2018. Coincidentally, Frost will accept his coaching award Thursday during the 27th edition of The Home Depot College Football Awards, which will air live on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET from the College Football Hall of Fame and Chick-fil-A Experience in Atlanta.

Frost, 42, is also a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award from the Football Writers Association of America and had already been named the American Athletic Conference coach of the year.
