Scott Brown set to be in the clear as Celtic skipper spared SFA charge over Aberdeen 'elbow' flashpoint

Celtic captain Scott Brown is set to be in the clear over an alleged elbow during his side's draw with Aberdeen.

The Parkhead skipper was accused of swinging an arm at Scott Wright in the closing stages of Sunday's 3-3 thriller at Pittodrie.

Dons star Wright was seen clutching his face after the incident but referee Willie Collum took no action at the time.

SFA compliance officer Clare Whyte cast an eye over the claimed offence but it appears the case will not go to a fast-track tribunal.

An SFA insider said: "We don’t believe there will be a notice of complaint issued to Scott Brown"

Meanwhile, Celtic boss Neil Lennon insists there's "no justification" for him to be sacked following a poor run.

The Premiership champions are without a win in their last three matches in all competitions, losing to Rangers and AC Milan before sharing the spoils with Aberdeen.

Lennon's side have slipped six points behind their city rivals at the league summit, albeit they have a game in hand.

A section of supporters have heavily criticised the manager but he's told his detractors they are well wide of the mark.

Speaking ahead of Thursday's Europa League clash with Lille, Lennon said: “There’s no justification at the moment for me to be sacked, none whatsoever."
