Scott Allan suffers fresh setback as Celtic friendly earmarked for Hibs return kiboshed by Dubai chaos

Celtic's Dubai debacle has had a knock-on effect on former Parkhead midfielder Scott Allan 's return to the Hibs first team.

The two clubs that battled out Monday night's 1-1 draw were set to follow that up with a bounce game between their B teams on Tuesday.

And that was earmarked as a way for Allan to get valuable minutes on the park, with Easter Road boss Jack Ross confirming: “He has now been back in the group for several weeks and his load has increased in that period.

“Weather permitting we are hopeful we will have a bounce match on Tuesday that he will be involved in. That’s another big step forward.”

But with Neil Lennon 's side forced to call up a plethora of reserve players and young prospects, the friendly was shelved.

Allan, 29, hasn't featured since August due to an unspecified health issue but returned to training in December to improve his fitness ahead of a staggered return to action.

The Hoops remain without 13 regulars - plus manager Lennon and his assistant John Kennedy - who have entered self-isolation after Christopher Jullien’s positive Covid test.

They are all set to miss out this weekend as Celtic take on David Martindale's red-hot Livingston.
