Snapchat down as social media users report app crashes

Scottish social media users are in a frenzy after popular messaging app Snapchat crashed today.

The social media app, which allows users to share images and text messages, went down at lunchtime.

Aggrieved users took to the site Downdetector to report that were having issues accessing Snapchat after the popular app went down for many users across the UK, reports Wales Online.

One user wrote that they could not post to their story and had been left "fuming" while another stated: "Logged out now unable to log in, saying oops we could not find the credentials, my details are correct."

A post from someone listed as 'Snapchat Admin' said the service "will shortly be back up and running" and added: "Please log out and log back in in the meantime to refresh your connection."

Downdetector saw the number of reports concerning Snapchat rise from 3,649 at 11.49am to 12,465 by 12.05pm.

The outage comes just over a week after a major service issue took Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger offline.
