Scots shocked as ex-England star Ashley Cole shows up at League Two side's stadium

Fans of a Scottish League Two side were shocked when a former Champions League winning defender showed up at their stadium.

Ex-Arsenal and Chelsea star Ashley Cole posed for pictures at Ochilview Park in Stenhousemuir last night after making an apparently unexpected visit.

The former England left back is understood to have been filming with the Denny Warriors who train at the stadium.

They are a community-based team who get overweight men active again, and also support those who struggle with poor mental health.

It is thought he is filming a documentary about mental health in football.

The 40-year-old had a glittering career in the sport, winning the Champions League with Chelsea and the English Premier League three times, twice with Arsenal and once with Chelsea.

He graciously posed for pictures with fans of all ages, and spent a considerable amount of time chatting to parents who were attending their children's training.

One cheeky fan posted a snap of the two on social media, and cheekily asked if anyone knew if Cole was good at football.

Reece Robertson wrote: "This boy came up to me and asked for a picture.

"Anyone know who he is and if he’s any good at football?"

When asked why he was there, he cheekily replied: "I think he was looking to sign.

"Don’t think he will get the boy BJ Coll’s spot anytime soon though."

Social media reacted with shock to the pictures of the former England star being in the Forth Valley area.

One person wrote on Twitter: "What in gods earth is Ashley Cole doing in Stenhousemuir hahahah."

While another added: "2nd best full back to grace stennys park."

Cole was later spotted at an animal park in Bonnybridge.
