Scots hotel offering NHS staff free rooms to help beat Storm Darcy cold snap

Kindhearted bosses at a Scottish hotel are offering NHS workers free accommodation during the cold snap.

Owners of the Beveridge Park Hotel, in Fife, are welcoming doctors and nurses who can’t travel during the arctic weather.

Last night over a dozen members of staff from the Victoria Hospital, in Kirkcaldy, took up the generous offer.

A similar number are expected to take up the offer tonight.

An employee at the hotel said the manager was doing his “good deed” for the hard working NHS workers.

He explained that most of the medics had travelled from Edinburgh and had been caught out by the wintry conditions.

He told us: “We’re providing rooms and a continental breakfast for the NHS workers who can’t get home or travel due to the weather.

“It’s a mix of doctors and nurses and they are mainly travelling from Edinburgh and getting caught out.

“It’s the least the hotel can do for all the hard work they do for us.”
